The Ultimate Cole Slaw Recipe

My mom has made this easy, crowd-pleasing cole slaw recipe since I was a kid. I loved it then and I love it now -- and it just happens to go great with anything you cook using Outta the Park BBQ Sauce! Try this tasty cole slaw at your next family feast or neighborhood gathering and see what you think.

The Ultimate Cole Slaw ~ My Mom's Recipe

- Shred or coarse-chop green cabbage and put in a large bowl. Food processor is fastest and gets the cabbage bits very fine - which is the way my mom likes it. Scott prefers a coarser chop.

- Add one grated or shredded carrot.

- Add a splash of white distilled vinegar (approximately 1-2 tablespoons per half-head (medium-sized) of cabbage).

- Add mayonnaise and mix it all together until it looks like you want it to look. Maybe you like it with tons of mayo, or a light coating or somewhere in between. Trader Joe's Organic Mayonnaise is my favorite for this slaw while my mom uses Hellman's.

- Add a shake of sugar (about 1/2 teaspoon per half-head of cabbage used) and then add salt and pepper to taste. Mix and taste until you get the flavors just right for you.

- Chill in the refrigerator for a bit and serve cold.

Variations: My mom adds sweet pickle cubes to her slaw but I usually leave those out. Scott also likes to add in diced celery and that's pretty good too. With this base you can add your favorite mix-ins -- Enjoy!
