Tired of Turkey? Try Sausage for a Simple Change of Pace

It's November 29, and those of us who are still eating turkey leftovers have had enough by now. At our house, Scott turned the leftovers into 10 quarts of homemade turkey broth and 3 delicious pot pies. Two are in the freezer for us to enjoy sometime later when our taste for Thanksgiving foods returns. And that...Won't.Be.Anytime.Soon.

After all the effort that went with planning and cooking Thanksgiving foods, it's nice to have some simple quick and easy meal ideas in the queue. Here's one idea that's so simple it's hardly worth calling it a recipe. It's....

Simply Sausage with Outta the Park BBQ Sauce.

What you need:

- Mild Italian sausage
- water
- olive oil
- BBQ Sauce

What you do:

Select a saute pan that will comfortably hold all the sausages you plan to cook. Add 1/4-1/2 inch of water to the pan and heat to boiling on stovetop - medium/med-high heat. Cook sausages until they are done, turning frequently. When the water evaporates, add olive oil to the pan and continue cooking the sausages until they are browned on the outside to your liking.

When sausages are done, serve with a drizzle of Outta the Park BBQ Sauce. This pairs nicely with Outta the Park Hash Brown Sweet Potatoes with Rosemary and your favorite cooked greens like collards, chard or kale.

Or if cooking sides sounds like a lot of work, then opt for fresh veggies on the side. Carpe diem and enjoy the simplicity of sausage!
