Recipe & Earth Day Shout Out to An Organic Wife ~ BBQ Beef Biscuits

This recipe for BBQ Beef Biscuits has been on my “must make” list since it was first shared by food and natural lifestyles blogger Cristina of An Organic Wife in the fall of 2012. Cristina was kind enough to give Outta The Park BBQ Sauce a try, and she featured it in her recipe for these tasty beef biscuits.

It took me a few months to make this recipe for the first time, and let me tell you it was so delicious, and my kids loved it so much that it will be no time at all before we make these BBQ Beef Biscuits again! There are so many things to love about this recipe from the simple preparation and short ingredient list to the presentation which is fun and family friendly. My kids were excited to see what looks like mini pizzas on their dinner plate! I even managed to add in some finely diced carrots, radishes and spring onions with the beef because they were on hand and I like to add veggies when I can.

Today is Earth Day 2013, and we are thrilled to send folks Cristina's way. Many people are contemplating what they can do to minimize their impact on the environment, and I can't think of a better place to look for inspiration and great ideas than Cristina's blog and Facebook page.

Why? Her website is a well-written and easy-to-reproduce-at-home guidebook to living in a more earth-friendly way. Cristina is a “real” foodie for sure with a passion for organic ingredients and scratch cooking. I could spend months in my kitchen making her many delicious recipes! She’s also an advocate for all things homemade - from make it yourself vanilla extract, marshmallows and cream cheese to natural and organic home cleaning and personal care products. You’ll find a Lifestyles section full of make-your-own ideas and inspiration. It’s better for the environment to buy organic and to choose pesticide and herbicide-free products, and when you “make it yourself” you send less wasteful packaging to the landfills.

Cristina is among a group of young, real food and organic living advocates whose strong voices, in my opinion, are some of the most important agents of change in America today. She proactively cleaned up her diet beginning at the age of 24. I had to experience a series of tragic health crises starting at age 33 before I clued in on the connection between food and wellness, so I am in awe of An Organic Wife and those like her. She’s a great role model, and I’m pleased to feature her, her recipe and links to her website here at Outta The Park on Earth Day 2013.

Thanks for being our Earth Day inspiration, Cristina!
